Nevada Primary Sets Up Competitive General Election

Nevada’s primary election has set the stage for a competitive general election in November. Gov. Joe Lombardo and Attorney General Aaron Ford won their respective primaries, with Lombardo securing 90.87% of the vote and Ford obtaining 63.49%.

Gubernatorial Race

Lombardo, who is seeking re-election, stated that he is honored by the confidence Nevadans have placed in him and will continue working on behalf of all Nevadans. Ford, on the other hand, claimed that the current economy is a failed one and promised to bring change to Carson City.

A March poll by Noble Predictive Insights found the two candidates nearly tied, with Lombardo at 39% and Ford at 38%. The general election is expected to be highly competitive, with early voting taking place from October 17 to 30.

Attorney General’s Race

The attorney general’s race will feature State Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro, a Democrat, against Adriana Fralick, a Republican. Cannizzaro won her primary with 60.68% of the vote, while Fralick secured 60.17%.

Fralick, who has never held public office, gained crucial endorsements from President Trump and Gov. Lombardo ahead of the primary. She stated that her job as attorney general would be to represent the interests of Nevada and enforce state law, regardless of who occupies the White House or the Governor’s Mansion.

Congressional District 1

In the state’s 1st Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Dina Titus will face state Sen. Carrie Ann Buck in the general election. Titus, who is seeking her eighth term, focused on her economic agenda and experience in Congress.

Buck, who outraised Titus in campaign funds ahead of the primary, positioned herself as a candidate who previously flipped a Democratic-held state senate seat. She stated that she is honored to be the Republican nominee and looks forward to serving the people of Nevada’s 1st Congressional District.
