Madeline Clark Joins KTVZ Team

Madeline Clark, a multimedia journalist, has joined the KTVZ team in Bend. Originally from Texas, Clark fell in love with the Pacific Northwest while attending college in Eugene. She later transferred to the University of Kansas, where she studied English literature and Spanish.

International Experience

Clark’s love of languages led her to study abroad in Salamanca, Spain, and attend the local university to complete her minor in Spanish. After graduating in 2018, she moved to Valencia, Spain, to teach English. During her time in Valencia, Clark taught throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, adapting to changing regulations and government-enforced curfews.

Her final year teaching, 2022, was one of her most challenging as her school took in Ukrainian children fleeing from the war and resettling in Spain. Clark worked with her colleagues to develop new ways to introduce children to foreign languages and cultures, while also helping the children and their families adapt to Spanish culture and language.

Journalism Career

After her program in Spain ended, Clark decided to pursue her MA in Broadcast Journalism at City University London. She spent a year studying and working in London, gaining experience writing for My London News and editing digital content for Pod Save the UK. Clark also produced a short documentary about egg freezing becoming a perk in the workplace.

Clark is now glad to be back in Oregon, working with the KTVZ team in Bend. When she’s not at work, she enjoys taking yoga or Pilates classes and exploring Oregon’s nature with her family dog, Dot.
