Rebecca Kenefick, a dedicated second-grade teacher at Tinker Elementary School, was recently surprised as KOCO 5’s and Quail Creek Bank’s May Teacher of the Month. Kenefick was recognized for her outstanding work, particularly with the Anchored for Life program, which helps students support one another.
Supporting Military Families
Kenefick’s school, Tinker Elementary, has a significant number of military-connected students, with around 62% of the student body having a family member in the military. To support these students, the school has implemented the Purple Star program, which provides a buddy system to help new students transition into the school.
As the May Teacher of the Month, Kenefick received a $1,000 check to support her projects on DonorsChoose. She expressed her gratitude and plans to use the funds to benefit her students.
