A missing pet bird named Sunny was found at her favorite hangout spot, an ice cream shop in Maine. The 8-month-old cockatiel was spotted by staff at Fielder’s Choice in Bangor.
Reunion with Owners
Sunny’s owners, Kay Cote and Sarah Pinette, were overjoyed to be reunited with their beloved pet. They had been searching for her for days after she flew away from their home in nearby Hampden, Maine.
According to Cote and Pinette, they often bring Sunny outside when they let their chickens out, and one morning, the bird got away. They reported her missing to Hampden Public Safety and had been searching for her within a mile or so from home.
After Sunny had been missing for about four days, Cote and Pinette were alerted when their dogs started barking because they heard people coming up their driveway. It was officers with Bangor police, who had found Sunny at the ice cream shop.
Officer Tyler Rusby and Lt. Aaron Brooker responded to the call and were able to reunite Sunny with her owners. The Bangor Police Department posted about the reunion on Facebook, saying that Sunny’s owners were “ecstatic” to have their pet back.
