Little Angels Parade brightens Bucharest streets as Hurricane Lowell threatens Hawaii

On Saturday, families gathered in Bucharest, Romania, to watch the annual Little Angels Parade, a Christian‑themed event that fills the city’s main avenues with children dressed as angels. The colorful procession highlighted the community’s commitment to faith‑based traditions and offered a joyful respite for residents amid the summer heat.

Parade details and community response

Organizers said the parade featured more than 200 youngsters from local schools and churches, each wearing white wings and golden halos. Spectators lined the streets, cheering and taking photos as the little participants sang hymns and waved small flags. City officials praised the event for promoting family values and reinforcing the role of faith in public life.

Mayor Andrei Popescu addressed the crowd, noting that the parade “celebrates the innocence of our children and the enduring spirit of our Christian heritage.” He encouraged families to continue supporting community gatherings that strengthen neighborhood bonds.

Hawaii prepares for Hurricane Lowell

Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the globe, the National Hurricane Center issued a tropical storm warning for the Hawaiian islands of Kauai and Niihau as Hurricane Lowell, a Category 3 storm with sustained winds of 125 mph, moves westward. Forecasts call for 6‑10 inches of rain across the islands, with isolated totals up to 14 inches, raising the risk of flooding, mudslides and road closures.

State officials urged residents and visitors to secure property, stock up on emergency supplies, and heed evacuation orders where necessary. The Big Island is expected to receive 4‑8 inches of rain, with some areas possibly seeing as much as 12 inches.

“We are closely monitoring Lowell’s path and will provide updates as the situation evolves,” said Hawaii Emergency Management Agency director Kiana Kawai. “Public safety remains our top priority, and we ask everyone to follow official guidance.”

Looking ahead

Both events underscore the importance of community preparedness and shared values. In Bucharest, the Little Angels Parade serves as a reminder of the city’s cultural and religious roots, while in Hawaii, proactive measures aim to protect families from the imminent threat of a powerful storm.

Residents in both regions are encouraged to stay informed through local news outlets and official channels, ensuring that celebrations and safety measures proceed with confidence.
