Democratic senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff have asked the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to probe whether Trump Media’s plan to sell early access to President Donald Trump’s social media posts breaks the law.
Concerns Over Insider Trading
Warren and Schiff expressed concerns that the paid data feed could give certain investors an unfair advantage, potentially leading to insider trading. Trump Media’s Truth API product will provide trading firms with the fastest access to posts from the 10 most influential Truth Social accounts, including Trump’s.
The senators noted that Trump has used Truth Social to endorse specific stocks, which they say raises the risk of insider trading and undermines investor confidence in the market. Trump Media has discussed charging as much as $100,000 a month for the Truth API product.
