Kansas man held in Palm Beach County jail on anti‑Jewish threats against Ben Shapiro

Korby A. Strube, 29, of Horton, Kansas, was taken into custody on September 12 and is being held without bail in the Palm Beach County Jail. He faces 23 counts of evidence of prejudice while committing written or electronic threats to kill or cause bodily harm, plus two counts of using a two‑way device to facilitate a felony.

Investigation and evidence

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office began investigating after receiving a tip from Fortified Risk Group, a private risk‑management firm that protects the victim. Screenshots were collected from an X (formerly Twitter) account named “Korby” (twitter.com/Ksqcrzk) that posted threats aimed at Ben Shapiro, a Palm Beach County resident.

The posts, now removed and the account suspended, included a daily countdown to a date that coincided with the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur (September 21‑22). Between July 31 and August 2, the messages explicitly threatened to kill the victim and highlighted his Jewish faith.

Victim’s response and law‑enforcement action

Shapiro told deputies the threats caused him anxiety and believed they were motivated by his faith. He had no prior contact with the social‑media user and wants the perpetrator prosecuted.

Through cooperation with technology, telephone and internet providers, investigators confirmed Strube authored the posts. On August 4, a U.S. Secret Service special agent from the Kansas City office, together with Brown County (Kansas) Sheriff’s officials, confronted Strube at his home about separate threats made toward the President of the United States and the former First Family.

During the interview, with his parents present, Strube was shown the threatening posts and allegedly admitted to posting them. The Secret Service noted he also managed three other social‑media accounts and that their investigation focused on the presidential threats, not the local ones.

Additional findings

A search of Strube’s residence uncovered a gun safe containing firearms, though the weapons were secured and he reportedly lacked access. The Secret Service agent suggested Strube may be experiencing mental‑health issues. Strube claimed his computer had been hacked and his identity stolen, but the agent found the claim inconsistent with the evidence.

Court proceedings

At a hearing on September 13, a judge ordered Strube to remain in jail without bail pending further proceedings.
