Philadelphia Union has reacquired star defender Kai Wagner via transfer from Birmingham City FC. Wagner, a three-time MLS All-Star, spent seven seasons with Philadelphia before joining Birmingham City FC for a seven-month stint.
Wagner’s Return
Wagner expressed his excitement about returning to Philadelphia, stating that the city has become his home and that he believes in the club’s culture and ambition. He had three assists in 18 matches across all competitions for Birmingham City FC.
Philadelphia sporting director Jon Scheer welcomed Wagner back, saying that he has been an integral part of the club’s success and has consistently established himself as one of the top left backs in Major League Soccer. The Union, currently struggling with the fewest points in the league, resume play after the international break on Wednesday when they host the New York Red Bulls.
