After years of being picked near the bottom of the league, IU was picked to finish third in the Big Ten in 2026, two spots lower than their finish in 2025 when they were 16-0 and National Champions.
Cignetti’s Approach
Cignetti emphasized the importance of focusing on the present and the process of improvement. ‘We’re very process-driven,’ he said. ‘Our focus is on the things you have to do in the here and now to improve as much as possible.’ He also highlighted the consistency of his approach, stating that his team’s Monday morning meetings and practice routines have remained largely unchanged over the years.
Cignetti’s success as a head coach is evident in his record, with 146 wins and 37 losses, including a 27-2 record in two seasons at Indiana. The Hoosiers are set to kick off the 2026 season on Saturday, September 5, hosting North Texas at 12 p.m.
