Indiana FOP delegates from across the state have issued a vote of “no confidence” in Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears. The vote was unanimous and took place at the 2026 Indiana FOP State Conference in Fort Wayne.
Concerns Over Violent Crime
President of the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police Rick Snyder expressed concerns about the violent crime happening in the capital city. Snyder stated that the vote of no confidence was a result of the “revolving door criminal justice system” in Indianapolis, which is compounded by a soft-on-crime prosecutor.
Snyder also mentioned that law enforcement officers throughout Indiana are aware of the issues in Marion County and that the vote was a reflection of their frustration and concern. The Indiana State Fraternal Order of Police is made up of nearly 14,000 law enforcement professionals and their families.
