Cohen grew up in a Messianic Jewish tradition, but as he got older, he began to question the teachings and eventually strayed from the faith. He recalls attending a Word of Faith Church, where he was told that if he believed, he would be healed of his multiple sclerosis. However, when he was not healed, he began to doubt the existence of God.

‘I went to a church who says, if you pray these prayers and if you believe, you will be healed. You will be healed. Because here are all these cherry-picked verses proving it,’ Cohen said. ‘And so I’m hearing these verses, and I’m praying. Now remember, I’m sitting in a car, sobbing, reading these things and saying, God, please heal me, please heal me. And he didn’t.’

A Journey of Self-Discovery

Cohen’s journey was not without its challenges. He struggled with his faith, questioning the existence of God and the purpose of life. However, as he navigated these struggles, he began to see the world in a different light. He started to realize that his experiences, including his diagnosis with multiple sclerosis, were not random events, but rather, they were part of a larger plan.

‘I got MS, which forced me to do all these things. And now look at what I’m doing. And at one point I thought, this feels like someone moving me in a direction that I would have never chosen through a means I never would have chosen. And that sounds a lot like the God that I’ve read about in the Bible,’ Cohen said.

A Newfound Faith

Cohen’s surrender to Jesus was a pivotal moment in his life. It marked a new beginning, one that was filled with hope, purpose, and redemption. As he shared with Caleb Collier, this newfound faith has given him a fresh perspective on life, and he is now dedicated to spreading the message of Jesus to others.

In a remarkable coincidence, Cohen discovered that his father had also surrendered his life to Jesus on the same day, 50 years earlier. This revelation only strengthened his faith, and he is now more convinced than ever that he is on the right path.
