The Texarkana Museums System and the Red River Center for Regional History and Culture are welcoming area residents to share stories of all kinds about the region’s history.
Sharing Stories
People of all ages and heritages were welcome to talk about anything in Texarkana and the region to be used for the museums’ archives and exhibits. The two organizations held an event on Saturday, conducting interviews with people to record these stories.
According to Texarkana Museums System Executive Director Ana Willis, ‘Some people believe that because they weren’t at a historical event, or something of that nature, that their story isn’t important, but it’s the mundane, it’s the everyday that we want.’ Anyone giving an oral history receives a copy of it for generations to come, to contribute to their and their family’s legacy.
Contact the Museum of Regional History to schedule an interview for your oral history story.
