The lawsuit was filed under Title III of the Help America Vote Act, which requires states to maintain accurate and current voter registration lists. However, U.S. District Judge Claria Horn Boom ruled that Kentucky is not required to provide unredacted statewide voter registration lists, citing voter privacy concerns.
Secretary of State Michael Adams welcomed the ruling, stating that Kentucky’s elections are secure and that voter privacy is protected. The DOJ has until September 21 to file an appeal.
