Data Center Ban Threatens US Economy, National Security

The US is engaged in an artificial intelligence (AI) war with China, and the outcome will have significant implications for the future of freedom. While the US sees AI as a tool to make the world more prosperous and individuals freer and more autonomous, China’s goal is to use AI to further enslave its population and shape a global hegemony.

The Importance of Data Centers

Data centers are essential for the development and deployment of AI, and the US is currently dominant in this area. However, a growing movement to ban new data centers could threaten the US economy and national security. Some 78 local jurisdictions across the country have set up temporary moratoriums or bans on new data centers, and 14 states are considering similar measures.

This movement is built on myths and lies, and the benefits of data centers far outweigh the costs. Data centers will enable a host of startups and small businesses to compete in the marketplace, including the new recruits to a resurgent US manufacturing sector. The onset of AI and its supporting data centers will add trillions of dollars to the US economy, as much as an additional 1.5%-3.7% of GDP growth annually.

National Security Implications

AI is also a powerful tool for detecting cyber threats, analyzing vast amounts of intelligence data, and organizing the logistics for military readiness. The decisions we make now about the future of data centers will have a decisive impact on the future of freedom. It’s crucial that Americans choose the right path, one that truly benefits us and future generations, not the bureaucrats of the Chinese Communist Party.
