El Paso native Julian Kalel, a finalist on the latest season of American Idol, is returning to his hometown for a special thank-you concert. The free community event will take place on July 4th at San Jacinto Plaza.

Kalel’s performances on American Idol earned praise from the judges and brought national attention to the importance of ending the stigma surrounding mental health. Throughout the competition, El Pasoans rallied behind Kalel, voting week after week and celebrating each milestone as he advanced.

ABC-7’s Marcel Clarke will interview Kalel this Thursday on ABC-7 at 6 p.m. to discuss life after the show, his future plans, and the upcoming concert.
