Colorado Springs Restaurant Fails Health Inspection

A Colorado Springs food market, Hacienda Market and Taqueria, recently failed its health inspection after live cockroaches were found inside the facility. The market received a failing score during a routine health inspection, with 11 violations identified. These included a lack of soap in the handwashing sinks, an employee preparing food while wearing contaminated gloves, and a meat saw that was visibly soiled. Several food items were also being stored at unsafe temperatures.

Community Involvement

In contrast, The Edge Bar & Grill in Peyton is being recognized for its strong community presence. The restaurant has become a gathering place for veterans and first responders, with local artists even painting murals to honor them. Owner Natalie Gifford believes that operating a successful restaurant is all about working hard with good intentions and exceeding minimum requirements.

Gifford also appreciates the public reporting on restaurant inspections, stating that it helps encourage businesses to go above and beyond the required standards. The Edge Bar & Grill’s commitment to cleanliness and food quality has earned it a top performer spot in the recent health inspections.
