A search for a missing 7-year-old boy in Las Cruces, New Mexico, ended successfully after a couple found him walking out of a deserted area. The boy, who has autism, was reported missing late at night on June 4.
Community Effort
The Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD) used various resources, including officers, K9s, drones, and investigators, to search for the boy. Aerial drone footage and a dog helping officers track the boy’s footprints were part of the search effort.
A 911 caller reported seeing the boy in a diaper wandering the Telshor Boulevard area, which helped narrow down the search. The boy’s mother believed he had run to a nearby desert area, and officers searched that area as well.
The successful search effort is a testament to the community’s involvement and the LCPD’s dedication to finding the missing boy. The boy is now back with his mother, and the community can breathe a sigh of relief.
