Arlington’s Caravan Court Hotel Reopens Ahead of World Cup

The Caravan Court Hotel in Arlington has officially reopened, marking a significant step in the city’s preparations for the upcoming World Cup. Located just half a mile from a future World Cup venue, the hotel has been transformed from its original incarnation as the Caravan Motor Hotel into a modern destination that honors Arlington’s rich history.

Celebrating Arlington’s Legacy

General Manager John Thomas emphasized that the renovation was designed to celebrate Arlington’s past while creating a welcoming space for future visitors. The hotel features a 1960s-era Arlington theme, complete with a fine dining restaurant named The Vandy, in tribute to former Arlington Mayor Tom Vandergriff. Vandergriff played a pivotal role in transforming Arlington into a major entertainment and sports hub.

“This hotel is meant to be a landmark in the Arlington area,” Thomas stated, highlighting the significance of the hotel’s reopening as the city gears up for one of the world’s largest sporting events. The reopening is part of a broader redevelopment effort in Arlington, which includes the upcoming implosion of the former Sheraton Hotel to make way for a new development, Americana by Leow’s.

Preparing for International Visitors

Thomas noted that the timing of the hotel’s reopening was intentional, aligning with the city’s efforts to introduce international visitors to Arlington during the World Cup. “We want the outside world to really experience what Arlington has to offer,” he said. The hotel is coordinating with city officials on logistics, including parking and traffic plans, to ensure a smooth experience for visitors.

While some finishing touches are still being applied, such as the installation of the hotel’s original sign, most of the hotel’s amenities, including its restaurants and lounges, are now open for business. The reopening of the Caravan Court Hotel is a testament to Arlington’s ongoing transformation and its readiness to welcome the world.
