The University of Arizona triathlon team, led by coach Wes Johnson, will start its 2026 season competing at the Duquesne Cup in Beaver Falls, Penn. The team will then compete in the Desert’s Edge Collegiate Cup in Loma, Colo. on Sept. 27 before hosting the Cactus Collegiate Cup in Tucson on Oct. 10.
Upcoming Competitions
The NCAA West National Qualifier takes place Oct. 10 in Fort Worth, Texas. The Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Championship will be held Nov. 8 in Tempe. Arizona returns the majority of its roster from the 2025 national championship team, including fifth-year senior Kelly Wetteland, the reigning individual national champion.
In other University of Arizona sports news, Lily Woods has been named an assistant coach for the women’s tennis team. Woods arrives at Arizona from Mercer, where she served as an assistant coach this past season. Prior to coaching, Woods was a standout player at Wofford, twice earning second-team All-Southern Conference honors in both singles and doubles.
Arizona’s Taishi Moto and Tianyi Xiong qualified for this week’s U.S. Amateur Golf Championship in Ardmore, Penn. Both players advanced out of stroke play to the match play portion.
