As the new school year begins, students in Indiana can take advantage of two free homework-help services. The Rose-Hulman Institute’s homework hotline, now known as AskRose, has been a trusted resource for over three decades. This free tutoring service allows students to call, email, or chat with tutors who are available to help with specific homework questions.
How it Works
Students in sixth through 12th grade can access the service by visiting AskRose.org or calling 877-ASK-ROSE. Tutors are available from 7-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday to work one-on-one with students and help them answer their homework questions.
In addition to the Rose-Hulman Institute’s homework hotline, the Indianapolis Public Library offers a free tutoring service called Brainfuse HelpNow. This service provides live, online support from tutors who can help with homework questions in real-time. Brainfuse HelpNow also offers an online writing lab with a 24-hour turnaround window for essay feedback and an adult learning center that can help with resume and cover letter writing, Microsoft Office skills, and U.S. citizenship prep.
Getting Started
To access Brainfuse HelpNow, students need to have an Indianapolis library card and access to the internet. They can visit the Brainfuse website during tutoring hours for live, online support or upload a file to the website with comments for where they’d like help. A writing expert will get back to them within one business day.
