A judge is not extending a harassment protection order taken out by a teenager and her family against the mayor of Brockton, Massachusetts. Mayor Moises Rodrigues testified in the extension hearing, as did the 17-year-old Brockton High School student.
Details of the Case
The teen, who we are not identifying, and her family were asking the court for an extension on harassment prevention order. She testified that the mayor approached her while she was marching with the band in a parade in May and held her shoulder and waist.
Mayor Rodrigues testified he previously worked as a child protection specialist for the Archdiocese of Boston and has prioritized child safety. The school’s band director, Andrew Fantucchio, testified he saw the mayor inappropriately close to the student and reported it to the school district.
The order has officially been lifted. Rodrigues does not face any criminal charges in connection to the matter.
