A nearly 100-year-old chapel in Owensville, Indiana, was left in pieces after Sunday’s storms. A tornado ripped through Owensville, which is around 40 minutes north of Evansville. The Blythe Chapel’s structure was destroyed, with the roof blown off, parts of the floor torn up, and remnants of the walls and furniture piled up in what was left of the building’s skeleton.
Additionally, around 30 homes were damaged in Gibson County, one a total loss of the resident’s home and barn. Gibson County’s siren system was activated, however, some sirens in Owensville and Princeton did not sound due to old age. Gibson County Sheriff Bruce Vanoven said those sirens are being replaced and were not in any areas with storm damage.
