The Texarkana Arkansas Citizens Academy Alumni Association recently organized a 50/50 raffle event to support the local police department. Held over a weekend at the Fox Squad Armory, the event aimed to raise funds for essential equipment and items needed to enhance community safety.
Community Engagement and Support
John Marshall, the owner of Fox Squad Armory, explained the simple process of the raffle: “You just show up, it’s $20 per entry, you get two targets,” he said. Participants then engaged in a course of fire, with scores posted on a large scoreboard. The event successfully raised $1,000, with half of the proceeds going to the citizens academy alumni and the other half awarded to the top three shooters.
In addition to the raffle, the event featured door prizes and contributions from other sponsors, including food, hats, flashlights, and gift cards. Marshall noted the strong community support for the event, emphasizing the collaborative effort to bolster local law enforcement.
Strengthening Community Ties
Events like this raffle not only provide financial support for the police department but also strengthen the bonds between law enforcement and the community. By participating in such initiatives, residents of Texarkana demonstrate their commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all.
