The Wylie East soccer teams and golf teams had a successful season despite personnel changes. The boys’ soccer team, under new head coach Chay Brown, won three of their last four games but came up short of making the playoffs. The girls’ soccer team, led by head coach Kody Christensen, made their fourth consecutive appearance in a regional final.
Boys Soccer
The Raiders finished the season with a 6-12-3 overall record and a 4-9-3 mark in district play. Senior midfielder Dylan Falay and senior center back Ethan Henderson were named to the All-9-6A first team.
Girls Soccer
Despite losing 10 seniors from the previous season, the Lady Raiders had a quick rebuild and made it to the regional final. Senior Trystan Wischnewsky was named the district’s Defensive Player of the Year, and freshman Sarah Schwarte was named Defensive Newcomer of the Year.
Golf
Senior Ethan Berg and incoming junior Bailey Steiger led the way for the Raiders in golf. Berg placed 71st with a 177 at the regional tournament, while Steiger carded a two-day score of 190, good for 55th place.
