The Wisconsin Ethics Commission has launched a new dashboard to make campaign finance information more accessible to the public. The website, which cost $285,000 to build and will cost over $270,000 to maintain over two years, provides easier and more complete access to reported activity.
Improved Transparency
The new website allows users to search for information on state candidates, including governor, attorney general, and state legislator. It also tracks individual candidate donors and recipients, and provides information on how candidates spend their funds.
While the data on the website is not always perfect, the Ethics Commission has built a tool to eliminate erroneous and duplicative records. The commission has reduced duplicative entities by 78% so far.
The website is a significant improvement over the old system, which was slow and frequently froze up. The new dashboard was launched in August 2025 and will be tested during the upcoming primary and general elections.
