The Watts Towers Arts Center Campus in Los Angeles has received a $10.1 million investment to complete its improvement project, thanks to the Bezos Earth Fund. This funding will help finish the $22 million project, which is expected to be completed by 2028, ahead of the 2028 LA Olympics.
Project Details
The funding, secured by the LA Neighborhood Land Trust (LANLT), will add over 30,000 square feet of usable park space, new shade and cooling features, and new landscaping, while supporting art and recreation initiatives. Public amenities will also be improved, including LED lighting, drinking fountains, and bike racks.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass stated that this investment is about creating a space the community can be proud of. City Councilman Tim McOsker, who represents Watts, welcomed the partnership, noting the importance of the investment for the community.
The LANLT serves as the project manager and developer, overseeing design and construction in partnership with city departments and community stakeholders.
