Shootings reported in several states
In Florida, a 19-year-old was killed and six others were wounded by gunfire in downtown Pensacola. In Indiana, a shooting erupted after 3 a.m. Sunday in Fort Wayne, leaving one woman dead and eight adults with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. In Gary, Indiana, police responded to two separate shootings early Sunday, one of which killed a 10-year-old boy.
In California, a woman and a man were killed and three others injured at a large Fourth of July party in Compton. In Ohio, four people were injured in a shooting on the evening of July 3 in the Oregon District of Dayton. A 46-year-old woman was also shot in the back while asleep in bed in Canton, Ohio, after a suspect fired weapons into the air to celebrate the holiday.
In St. Louis, Missouri, a 17-year-old boy was killed in a shooting, and two other victims, both 16-year-old boys, were dropped off at a hospital with gunshot wounds. In Chino, California, a fireworks explosion killed one person and critically injured two others.
