The University of Wyoming’s Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center and Department of Ecosystem Science and Management have launched WyldFire, a new online platform designed to help Wyoming residents, landowners, utilities, emergency responders, and communities better understand wildfire risk.
Background
The platform was created in response to a 2025 legislative session that called for utilities to identify high-risk fire zones in their service areas and have procedures for inspecting infrastructure and managing vegetation. Tri-State Generation and Transmission, a rural electric co-op electricity provider, provided funding for the project.
