A University of Northern Iowa student, Max Mullis, made a generous donation by giving marrow to a 73-year-old woman battling leukemia. Mullis, an Athletic Training student, joined the National Marrow Donor Program registry during a campus event last fall. This year, he learned he was a perfect match for the patient and traveled to Chicago to make the donation, which took under two hours.
The hospital team noted that it was the fastest donation they had ever seen. To sign up to be a donor, visit nmdp.org. This selfless act showcases the impact one person can have on another’s life.
