Ukraine’s President Moves to Oust Defense Minister

Protesters gathered in downtown Kyiv after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy moved to dismiss his defense minister as parliament convened to appoint a new prime minister.

Government Reshuffle

Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who has been in the post for six months, is expected to leave the government. Fedorov has been credited with improving Ukraine’s military performance against Russia’s invasion.

Zelenskyy nominated Naftogaz CEO Serhii Koretskyi to take over as prime minister, citing his experience in the energy sector as a key factor in the decision.
