UConn Coach Floats White House Game

UConn men’s basketball head coach Dan Hurley floated the idea of the team playing a game at the White House given the success of the UFC Freedom 250 event on the South Lawn.

Hurley was in Washington, D.C., and approached by TMZ, which asked him if he’d like to see a Huskies basketball game played on the White House lawn next. Hurley responded, “That would be good,” and suggested a game between UConn and Duke.

UFC Event Sets Precedent

The UFC fights coincided with President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday and drew an estimated 4,300 attendees, including about 1,200 active-duty service members.

The event kicked off with the Marine Band’s performance of the national anthem, sung by Zac Brown, and was capped off with a flyover by the Navy’s Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds.
