A 26-year-old man, identified as Alexy Alcantar, died Monday after losing control of his motorcycle and sliding into a guardrail on Catalina Highway. The collision occurred around 9:40 a.m. near Windy Point as Alcantar was riding south and approached a curve.
Authorities report Alcantar was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle. A companion and several passersby — including people with medical training — stopped at the scene to offer assistance. Preliminary findings indicate Alcantar was wearing full protective riding gear and that speed does not appear to have been a contributing factor.
In a separate case, police have identified a 23-year-old man who died several days after a rollover crash earlier this month on Tucson’s north side. Officials continue to investigate the circumstances of that collision and have released limited details as the inquiry proceeds.
