Chicago’s iconic Christkindlmarket is celebrating its 30th season with a special line of merchandise that lets visitors take a piece of the holiday tradition home. The market announced the new items in a press release ahead of its upcoming runs in the Loop, Wrigleyville and Aurora.
Flute‑shaped mugs and green steins
The centerpiece of the collection is a 200‑milliliter pearl‑white glass mug inspired by the silhouette of a flute glass, a traditional symbol of a 30th anniversary. The mug is hand‑decorated with fireworks and a festive market scene, and is priced at $10 when purchased without a drink.
Joining the mug, the market’s annual 0.5‑liter beer stein returns in a tall, Christmas‑tree‑green version. The stein features a stylized Chicago skyline and a cozy market illustration, and costs $20 if bought without a beverage.
New 40‑ml shot cup
For collectors who prefer a miniature version of the classic stein, Christkindlmarket introduced a 40‑milliliter shot cup this year. The cup, priced at $7, bears the market’s logo on one side and a classic market booth on the other.
Additional holiday collectibles
Long‑time fans of the market’s Krampus plushie will be pleased to see it back for $28. The demonic half‑goat figure from Alpine folklore now has fuzzy ear tufts, sewn‑in hooves and a slightly darker finish.
A non‑alcoholic mug shaped like a Christmas tree is also part of the anniversary line. Priced at $10, the mug is decorated with a garland of ornaments that have been sold at the market over the years, offering a nostalgic nod to the market’s history.
Visitors can also purchase the 30th‑anniversary version of the market’s annual ornament, a gift box featuring an assortment of vendor products, various enamel pins and a Christkindlmarket magnet.
Where to find the merchandise
All of the anniversary items will be available at merchandise booths located at the market’s three Chicago sites: Daley Plaza in the Loop, Gallagher Way in Wrigleyville, and RiverEdge Park in Aurora. The market will run from November 20 to December 24 in the Loop and through December 31 in Wrigleyville.
Market leadership comments
“For 30 years, our mugs and collectibles have become part of the holiday traditions our visitors create at the Christkindlmarket,” said Maren Biester Priebe, CEO and General Manager of German American Events. “This anniversary collection celebrates those memories while giving our longtime collectors and new visitors something special to take home from this milestone season.”
The Christkindlmarket continues to draw crowds seeking authentic German‑style holiday goods, seasonal foods and festive entertainment. The new merchandise adds another reason for families and friends to gather, celebrate and support local vendors during the most wonderful time of the year.
