Republican Tommy Tuberville, the presumptive winner of the November General Election, has appointed a transition team called the ‘Golden Age Action Team’ to help him ‘clean up’ state government. The team, comprised of Alabama ‘heavy hitters’, will focus on finding waste and duplication within state government.
Transition Team Members
The team includes Mobile political consultant Jonathan Gray, Montgomery attorney Gibson Vance, health care entrepreneur Jim McLane, tax consultant Chad Witcher, Birmingham attorney Loree Skelton, retired oilman Bruce Culpepper, businessman Kyle Burt, and trucking magnate Reid Dove. Tuberville’s Chief of Staff, Jordan Doufexis, will lead the team.
Critics have expressed concerns that the plan may cut too deep, similar to Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s efforts to shrink and streamline the federal government. However, Tuberville has stated that the team will ‘walk in prepared and ready to win on day one’ and will not spend their first year ‘holding meetings and making excuses’.
