A federal judge has ruled that the Kennedy Center must remove President Donald Trump’s name from the building, citing a violation of the law when the board added his name to the historic performing arts venue. The Kennedy Center board, comprised of Trump loyalists, has voted to appeal the decision.
Appeal Plans
The board, which convened for a meeting on Thursday, plans to file an appeal to contest US District Judge Casey Cooper’s decision. The appeal is expected to be filed soon. In the meantime, the center has begun removing references to Trump’s name, including changing the website logo and removing the name from email signatures.
During the meeting, Trump, who dialed in from the Oval Office, reportedly lambasted Judge Cooper and attacked his wife, Amy Jeffress, who served as former President Joe Biden’s personal lawyer. The board also passed a resolution to honor Trump, recognizing his contributions to the institution.
