Single-pathogen vaccines for measles, mumps, and rubella are not currently available for purchase or distribution in the United States.
The directive instructs the Department of Health and Human Services to conduct further research into vaccine safety and scheduling. While the executive order establishes federal guidance, legal authority to establish and enforce mandatory immunization requirements for school entry rests with individual state governments.
Public health organizations note that spacing out vaccine schedules increases the time windows during which children remain unimmunized against targeted diseases before completing their multi-visit series.
