The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office has released records stating that the investigation into Walmsey’s death remains open, and the cause of death is listed as ‘deferred,’ pending further investigation. The medical emergency that led to Walmsey’s death is still unclear.
This incident is the latest in a series of recent cases involving passengers who suffered fatal medical emergencies aboard commercial flights. In January 2025, a 53-year-old woman died on an Air France flight from Paris to Boston, and in June 2024, an 8-year-old girl became ill on a SkyWest flight, which diverted to Peoria, Illinois.
