Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with President Donald Trump on Tuesday, their first meeting since the two leaders launched a joint war against Iran. The meeting is an opportunity for Netanyahu to smooth out strains in their relationship.
War with Iran
Trump has repeatedly threatened to target Iran’s infrastructure, including bridges and power plants, but has retreated from those threats. In an interview with Fox News, Trump said he could ‘finish the job’ if Iran’s leaders don’t make a deal to end the war.
The two leaders also plan to discuss the framework agreement the U.S. and Israel signed with Lebanon over the Israel-Hezbollah war and the expansion of the Abraham Accords.
Ukrainian President Meeting
Trump is also set to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday, their second meeting this month. Zelenskyy is in Washington to honor the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, who recently passed away.
