Tri-County Technical College’s Commission recently approved a $71.6 million operating budget for fiscal year 2027. The approved budget includes a 3.6% tuition increase for in-county students starting in the fall semester of the 2026-27 school year.
Tuition Increase Details
Tuition was raised from $191.63 to $198.53 per credit hour for full-time in-county students. This increase amounts to an additional $6.90 per credit hour or $82.80 per semester for students taking 12 credit hours.
According to Jim Wanner, chair of the TCTC Commission, the college’s mission is to keep education accessible and affordable. The technical college’s tuition increase is based on the Higher Education Price Index, designed for higher education institutions and other operational funding needs.
TCTC President Galen DeHay stated that state and federal scholarships and grants are available to ensure the tuition increase won’t create barriers for students. The TCTC Foundation also awards scholarships to students. Near 85% of students at the technical college receive some form of financial aid.
