Toyota Recalls Over 43,000 Tundra Trucks Due to Engine Stall Risk

Toyota has announced a recall of over 43,000 of its 2024 Tundra pickup trucks, following reports of engine stalling due to debris inside the engine. This recall, which was made public by both Toyota and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), highlights a potential risk for drivers as the engine stall could lead to a loss of motive power, particularly at higher speeds, increasing the likelihood of a crash.

Details of the Recall

The recall affects certain non-hybrid models of the 2024 Toyota Tundra. Out of the 43,566 trucks included in the recall, it is estimated that only about 1% may actually have the defect. The issue arises from manufacturing debris that can cause the engine to knock, run roughly, or fail to start, especially when driving at high speeds.

This is not the first time the Tundra has faced similar issues. The model underwent two previous recalls in 2024 and 2025 for the same problem of manufacturing debris within the engine. Toyota has stated that the engines involved in this latest recall were produced with additional controls intended to remove manufacturing debris, yet the problem persists.

Next Steps for Owners

Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified directly between July 6 and 20. Those who believe their vehicle may be impacted are advised to contact Toyota’s customer service at 1-800-331-4331 for further information and guidance.

The recall underscores the importance of vehicle safety and the ongoing efforts by manufacturers and regulatory bodies to address potential hazards. As always, vehicle owners are encouraged to stay informed about recalls and take prompt action to ensure their safety and that of others on the road.
