Single parents in the Texarkana area have the opportunity to apply for fall 2026 scholarships through the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund. The fund provides scholarship awards ranging from $400 to $1,600 to eligible parents pursuing an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, professional certificate, or skill-trade program.
Eligibility and Application
To qualify, applicants must be a single parent who lives in an eligible Arkansas county or Bowie County, Texas, and have a high school diploma or GED. They must also be pursuing an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, professional certificate, or skilled-trade program and be enrolled in at least one three-credit-hour course. Applicants must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA, meet income eligibility guidelines, and satisfy other program requirements.
LaShana Mitchell of Texarkana, Texas, is among the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund recipients this year. Mitchell is studying education at Texas A&M University and hopes to create a loving, safe classroom where kids feel happy, supported, and excited to learn.
The Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to ending single-parent poverty through higher education. Since 1990, the fund has awarded more than $50 million in scholarships and provided the mentorship and support single parents need to complete their education and pursue higher-paying careers.
