The Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments (TARCOG) is spearheading a significant employment initiative in Northeast Alabama by launching a Tri-County Career Fair. This monthlong event, taking place throughout June, aims to enhance local hiring opportunities and provide job training for older adults in DeKalb, Jackson, and Marshall counties.
Supporting Local Employment
Executive Director Michelle Gilliam Jordan emphasized the importance of expanding local employment while minimizing commute challenges for those interested in remote case management roles. These positions support Medicaid Waiver services and involve tasks such as client assessments, home visits, service monitoring, billing verification, and daily service documentation.
“We want to make the most out of the onsite opportunities in Jackson, Marshall, and DeKalb counties,” Jordan stated. “We are continually growing and right now, we’re looking for case managers who are interested in teleworking with our Medicaid Waiver program without the commute to Huntsville every day.”
Opportunities for Older Adults
The career fair will also feature TARCOG’s Senior Community Service Employment Program, targeting residents aged 55 and older. This program offers paid training and skill development with the aim of achieving long-term employment. Participants can remain in the program for up to four years, gaining valuable experience and enhancing their employability.
