The Tamaya Horse Rehab, a nonprofit on the Santa Ana Pueblo, is hosting weekly rodeos this summer to raise funds for the care and rehabilitation of abandoned, neglected, and injured horses in New Mexico.
Supporting a Meaningful Cause
Volunteers said many people can no longer afford their horses or simply do not want them, leaving the animals stranded. All profits from the rodeos will go toward helping these horses. The organization helps save abandoned, neglected, or injured horses and rehabilitates them through training and care.
Starting tonight and continuing through Aug. 13, public rodeos will be held every Thursday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa on the Santa Ana Pueblo. The events, which include roping and barrel racing, are centered on the horses and offer a great experience for families while supporting a meaningful cause.
According to Gregg Marcantel, a wrangler at Tamaya Horse Rehab, developing a relationship with a horse is very therapeutic for the human. Tickets for the rodeos are $20 per person, with a discounted rate of $10 for children 12 and under.
