Billy Bob Thornton on ‘Landman’

Billy Bob Thornton, star of the popular series ‘Landman’, believes the show’s global success can be attributed to its relatable portrayal of working-class struggles.

The Show’s Appeal

Thornton shared his thoughts on the show’s appeal during an interview at the Newport Beach TV Fest. He stated that ‘working people, I think, really relate to the struggles that the family goes through and the people who work in this industry’.

The show, based on the podcast ‘Boomtown’, chronicles the Permian Basin oil boom in West Texas. Thornton’s character, Tommy Norris, is a ‘landman’ working for an oil company called M-Tex. The series also features a talented ensemble cast, including Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, and Andy Garcia.

Thornton praised the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, for his ability to understand and connect with people from all walks of life. ‘What’s really surprising about Taylor is that he seems to understand all people because this is an international hit,’ Thornton said.

The show’s success has been confirmed with the announcement of a third season by Paramount+.
