Sugar Land Welcomes Greater Houston’s First FIFA Merchandise Store

Sugar Land officials have inaugurated the first official FIFA merchandise store in the Greater Houston area, marking a significant milestone for Fort Bend County. The ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 4 unveiled the store located at 2191 Texas Drive, previously an AT&T Store. This new establishment offers a range of official FIFA and Houston Host City merchandise, including jerseys, shirts, hats, and posters, as noted by Alison Brooks, assistant director of tourism for Visit Sugar Land.

Community and Economic Impact

Chris Canetti, president of Houston’s World Cup host committee, commended the city and its stakeholders for their vision and efforts in preparing for the World Cup as an Official Houston World Cup 2026 Host City Supporter. He highlighted the proactive approach of Sugar Land’s officials, including the mayor and City Council, in leveraging the World Cup to benefit the community.

Sugar Land Mayor Carol McCutcheon emphasized the cultural and financial benefits the World Cup brings to the city. She stated, “Sugar Land is embracing opportunities that connect our community to something truly international while supporting tourism, local businesses, and economic growth.”

Excitement Among Residents

Local resident Philip Pedrosa, originally from the Netherlands, was among the first 50 guests at the grand opening, receiving a special keychain. He expressed his appreciation for the store’s unique offerings, noting the exclusive items available.

Looking Ahead

The store will remain open throughout the World Cup, according to Brooks. Additionally, Sugar Land will host eight FIFA World Cup viewing parties in Town Square starting June 11. These events are free to the public, though reservations are required. Houston will host seven World Cup matches between June 12 and July 4, further boosting local engagement and tourism.
