Stranded Boater Rescued from Wallace Lake by Caddo Parish Authorities

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office successfully rescued a stranded boater, Treston Decareaux, from Wallace Lake on Tuesday evening. The operation involved multiple units, including the Patrol Division, Drone Unit, and Marine Patrol.

Coordinated Search Efforts

At around 3:11 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned parent reporting that his 25-year-old son, Treston Decareaux, had been out on the lake since midnight and had not been heard from for several hours. Family members believed he launched his boat from Cameron Park.

Sgt. Brian Johnson and Sgt. Larry Pierce from the Patrol Division responded promptly to Cameron Park to initiate the search. Upon arrival, they noted the absence of Treston’s truck and trailer at the boat launch. Utilizing drone technology, they conducted an aerial search of the area, though initial efforts did not locate Treston or his vessel.

Later, Treston’s aunt informed deputies of a text message she received from him at 2:35 p.m., indicating he was experiencing mechanical problems and was stranded on the lake. This information intensified the search efforts.

Successful Rescue

As Sgt. Johnson continued drone operations, Lt. Chad Davis of the Marine Patrol launched a patrol boat for an extensive on-water search. Sgt. Pierce located Treston’s truck and trailer on the eastern side of Wallace Lake, significantly narrowing the search area.

By 6:15 p.m., Lt. Davis found Treston and his disabled boat on the northern portion of the lake. Treston was safe and unharmed. The Marine Patrol towed the vessel to a nearby launch, where deputies assisted Treston in loading the boat and ensured his safe return home.
