Rail Runner Express Expands Summer Services in New Mexico

The Rail Runner Express, a vital transportation link for many New Mexicans, is expanding its services this summer to better serve the community. Starting June 1, the train schedule will see significant enhancements that are expected to last through October.

Extended Routes and New Services

One of the key changes includes the extension of the 508 train service, which departs from Belen at 8 a.m. Previously, this train concluded its journey in downtown Albuquerque, but it will now continue all the way to the Santa Fe Depot. This extension aims to provide more convenience for commuters traveling to Santa Fe.

Additionally, a new service, the 511 train, will be introduced. This train will leave the Santa Fe Depot shortly after noon and will end its service in downtown Albuquerque, offering another option for midday travelers.

Moreover, the 525 train, which traditionally operates only on Fridays, will now include a Thursday evening trip. This train will depart from the Santa Fe Depot at 10 p.m., providing more flexibility for evening commuters and those attending late events in the area.

Impact on Local Commuters

These changes are designed to accommodate the increased demand for rail services during the summer months, when both locals and tourists are more likely to travel. By expanding the schedule and routes, the Rail Runner Express aims to enhance accessibility and convenience for its passengers, supporting the local economy and community connectivity.

The Rail Runner Express has long been a critical component of New Mexico’s transportation infrastructure, helping to reduce road congestion and offering an eco-friendly alternative to driving. These service expansions reflect a commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the community while promoting sustainable travel options.
