It has been a celebratory week for Stamford students, with two separate milestones highlighting the hard work and bright futures of local young people.
Stamford’s beloved Avon Theatre has awarded $8,500 in scholarships to area high school seniors, recognizing students who share a passion for film and the arts. The historic Washington Boulevard cinema has long been a cultural anchor for the community, and its scholarship program reflects a commitment to investing in the next generation of Stamford’s creative thinkers and storytellers.
Meanwhile, across town at Westhill High School, 30 seniors have successfully completed the Academy of Finance program — a rigorous, career-focused curriculum that equips students with real-world knowledge in financial services, business, and economics. Finishing the Academy of Finance is a meaningful achievement, giving graduates a competitive edge as they head off to college or enter the workforce.
Together, these two milestones are a reminder of the depth of opportunity available to Stamford’s young people — from the arts to finance — and of the community organizations and educators who champion their success every step of the way. Congratulations to all of this year’s scholarship recipients and Academy of Finance graduates!
