A contractor working in Shreveport, Louisiana, damaged a major water transmission line, disrupting water pressure across the west pressure zone. City crews responded immediately and isolated the broken line, allowing water pressure to return to normal.
Repair Efforts Underway
Repair crews are working to fix the broken transmission line as quickly and safely as possible. Once the repairs are complete, a precautionary voluntary boil advisory will be issued for the affected area until water quality testing confirms the water is safe to drink.
According to Brandon R. Snead, interim director of the Water and Sewerage Department, the incident was caused by the contractor striking one of the city’s transmission lines, not a failure within the city’s water distribution system. Residents are advised to check the City of Shreveport’s official social media pages for updates on the repairs and boil advisory.
