The Sheridan Community Land Trust (SCLT) has officially opened the Big Goose Natural Area, a 117-acre expanse designed to serve as a community jewel. This initiative aims to connect residents with the land and its rich history, ensuring that these connections endure for generations.
A Space for Everyone
The Big Goose Natural Area offers more than two miles of walking trails, catering to both individuals and families looking to enjoy the outdoors. For pet owners, there are designated off-leash dog trails, making it a welcoming environment for all members of the family, including four-legged ones.
Chris Vrba, SCLT’s Marketing and Development Contractor, encourages locals to visit the area and experience its offerings. “If you haven’t been out there, come on out,” Vrba says. The area is not only a place for recreation but also for education, with the newly opened SCLT Welcome Center featuring a variety of entertaining and educational exhibits.
Community Engagement
The Welcome Center is a hub of activity, with exhibits designed to engage visitors of all ages. Bruce, a dedicated member of the SCLT team, has been instrumental in preparing these exhibits, which are already generating excitement among visitors.
By providing a space that encourages both leisure and learning, the Big Goose Natural Area is poised to become a beloved part of the Sheridan community. It stands as a testament to the importance of preserving natural spaces and fostering a sense of community through shared experiences.
